Michigan in Pictures is a blog written & curated by Andrew McFarlane.
Pretty much every day that’s not a Sunday, I feature a photo that showcases Michigan – history, landmarks, lighthouses, trails, cities, people, animals, events and plain old Great Lakes State gorgeousness.
Most of the photos on this blog are selected from Flickr, mainly from folks who share their photos the Absolute Michigan Pool. You can also share your photos on the Michigan in Pictures Facebook or via the “michpics” hash tag on Twitter or Instagram. If your photo is in some other place, you can tweet it with that hash tag.
If you have any suggestions or photos you’d like me to consider, drop an email to michpics@absolutemichigan.com.
PS: If you want to use the photos you see on Michigan in Pictures, please read this page. The short answer is that they’re not mine and respecting copyright is a Good Thing.
PPS: If you want to start at the beginning, here’s the first post from December 2005.
My heart and spirit will always be in northern Michigan. Bless everyone for these spectacular pictures which bring me back to my forever home.

Glad to help a bit with the northern Michigan pangs, Diane. I’ll try and find a nice “up north” shot for you.

What a lovely site! I moved from Michigan to North Carolina in 1983, and we head north every year to see family. I have wonderful memories of Big Star Lake, Crystal Lake, Lake Charlevoix from family vacations in the fifties. I will continue to browse your photos for more Michigan beauty!

Greetings, I would love to have a mounted picture some of the Lakeshores in Michigan. Lived on the West side for many years and took only visual snapshots. Please help bring a little bit of Michigan to my home in Missouri.
Thanks,

I’m no professional by any means, however, I recently took some amazing pictures in Traverse City near Grand Traverse Bay and an incredible sunset on Lake St. Clair. I’d like to post them or enter them in a contest, however, I’m clueless as to how to do this. Can someone help me?

I would be more than happy to help in any way that I can. There are a few photos and postcards of the Grand Traverse and Leelanau areas that I did not use in my 2003 book Traverse City in Vintage Postcards, as well as some that were not used in the 2004 book Petoskey in Vintage Postcards. We live in a beautiful state with a rich and diverse history. If there is any way that I can assist you in showcasing your photos, please let me know.

You’re very welcome – one of the reasons I started Michigan in Pictures was the memory of how much I missed the state while living elsewhere.

Hello,
GDI is giving away $1,000 per day on top of the normal cash bonues and residual income potential.
This is the hottest and most established fast income opportunity on the planet – sounds cliche, but it’s true. GDI is in their 11th year and is Inc500 listed.

I happened upon this site when looking for pictures of the old Tigers’ stadium. Very happy I did! Life led me away from Michigan almost twenty years ago and I find myself slighty homesick/nostalgic for home. This site is a nice comfort. Thanks!

These are great pictures of Michigan’s beauty, which is so underrated! There is this book I found of more of Michigan’s beauty, specifically Detroit, MI. The book has thousands of photos of architecture, including landmarks in Detroit http://detroit138squaremiles.com/julia-reyes-taubmans-day-trip-underrated-detroit-landmarks
