Kim says that this photo was taken on the way up the Summit Peak Path in the Porcupine Mountains on October 6th, 2007. She has more photos from (and writing about) the UP on her blog, The Dailies.
SuperiorTrails.com says that the view from Summit Peak is the most “don’t miss” attraction in the park. On their Porcupine Mountains Hiking Trails page, Exploring the North writes:
This trail provides an opportunity to visit Summit Peak at 1,958 feet, the highest point in the park. A 40-ft. observation tower provides an outstanding view of the park as well as the surrounding area . Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Apostle Islands, and Copper Peak are a few of the sights that can be seen on a clear day. A viewing deck on the way up to the summit provides a panorama of the Little Carp River valley and ranks as one of the best views of the park.

Farlane, I do not have access to my web mail account at this location (working as a sub-teacher today and they block that site) I noticed that the mistwoods.jpg is a broken image. The link to my wordpress page is functional and the image does appear there in the 500 pixel size. The image on google maps is also a broken image. Have a fantastic day :-) and thanks again!

Who we are.
Milton and Torch Lake Townships in northwest Michigan (Antrim County) are nearly an island. They are bordered by Grand Traverse Bay on the west, Torch Lake on the east, and to the south Elk and Skegemog lakes and the Torch River. The townships are 90% residential with homes along lakes and in or near the villages of Kewadin, Torch Lake and Eastport. There are several dozen operating farms in the uplands.
The Milton Neighbors (TMN) was formed to help develop the Master Plan, improve roads and increase volunteerism in township government. TMN operated informally for about four years then was incorporated two years ago as a Michigan Not-for-Profit Corporation. The community was faced with dangerous E.coli pollution of an area creek which contaminated Grand Traverse Bay beaches, degraded quality of life for children and depressed property values. Restoration is to begin this year in cooperation with local government and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
The TMN charter is to keep citizens informed on issues affecting the quality of life and property rights, to drive toward accountable township leadership, to inspire involvement in our townships by citizens who are interested, knowledgeable, expert and wise, to develop and promote public policy initiatives and to engage in educational, scientific, testing for public safety, lessening the burdens of government, and lessening neighborhood tensions
